The Onaz aka James Hadfield was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in the summer of 1981, the name "The Onaz" came from a period in his life where he was a graffiti writer smashing up streets, tracksides and public transport with 3D art, psyched up with the agression of early metalheadz;- Rufage Cru, Photek, and Source Direct.
Growing up with Douglas McAvoy and Malcolm Sharp of Craggz and Parallel Forces, it didn't take long to start getting into the Drum and Bass genre a little deeper. The Onaz set himself up as a vocalist in the growing underground music scene of Newcastle and became resident at most of the Drum and Bass club nights. In September 2000 he began collecting elements to build up his own home studio setup and with the help of Mala (Craggz and Parallel Forces) and Alan Clarke (Elementz of Noise), he began to combine the DnB with with his earlier musical interest....... Rock/Grunge. As James Hadfield he recorded a track named "Your Isolation" with Craggz and Parallel forces that was released on their album through Valve records and featured on Playstation game Fifa Street 2.
After a while the Drum and Bass genre became a little too formulated for The Onaz and other forms of urban music became more apparent, influential artists 4hero appeared to have moved on, as had Hidden Agenda and artists such as Morgan Geist, Carl Craig and Jazzanova were writing music with an intensity found far more appealing.
These days The Onaz mainly subscribes to NuDisco music influenced by Emperor Machine, Lindstrom and Prins Thomas however, his production of the form is more minimal.
